What this site is, and what it is not

Astrology here is reflection, not prediction
The Karma offers traditional Vedic and Sri Lankan astrology as spiritual reflection and entertainment. Astrological interpretation is a cultural and philosophical tradition with a long history. It is not an empirical science, it has no demonstrated predictive power, and nothing in your birth chart determines what happens in your life.
The astronomy behind your chart is real and precisely calculated. The interpretation placed on top of that astronomy is tradition, and we present it as tradition.
This is not professional advice
Nothing on this site is medical, psychological, legal, financial or any other kind of professional advice, and nothing here should replace a qualified professional. In particular:
- We do not diagnose or comment on any health condition, physical or mental, and nothing in a reading is a reason to delay or avoid seeing a doctor.
- We do not give financial, investment, tax or debt advice.
- We do not give legal advice.
- We do not estimate lifespan, and we never will.
- We make no claims about marriage, separation, fertility, or about any other person named or unnamed.
What we refuse to automate
Some traditional rules can be calculated but should not be handed to someone as a verdict by a website. We deliberately do not produce a porondam compatibility score, because the correspondence tables genuinely differ between almanacs and a number from a website can end a real engagement. We do not publish personalised nekath timings, because choosing an auspicious moment for a real decision belongs to the published almanac and to the practitioners who compute it. We do not prescribe gemstones, rituals or paid remedies of any kind.
Accuracy and its limits
Charts are calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris using the Lahiri ayanamsa and whole-sign rashi houses, and the exact settings used are printed in every reading. The result depends entirely on the birth details you give us. An error of a few minutes in your birth time can change the rising sign and with it most of the reading, so if your time is approximate, treat the house-based sections lightly. Births before 1800 are not supported.
Different ayanamsas, house systems and dasha year lengths produce genuinely different charts. Another astrologer or another website may disagree with ours, and that disagreement is usually about convention rather than about arithmetic.
If a reading upsets you
Our readings are written to avoid fear-based language, but astrology can still stir things up. If something here leaves you anxious, please stop reading it and talk to someone you trust. No interpretation on this site is worth your peace of mind, and none of it is a reason to make a major decision about your health, money, work or relationships.
